I started the Tune A Day project in March 2008. My aim was very simple; to write, record and upload a new tune every day. The tunes all had to be original, not using loops, not remixing songs nor using bits of old tracks. I carried on writing until June, having managed to upload 80 tracks. I did take a week off, my friend Mike Campbell produced seven tracks while I was away.

The project was an extremely productive experiment for me. It drove me to learn the guitar and to start writing and singing songs, previously everything I did was instrumental. It also made me extremely fast at mixing and editing in Logic. I stopped at 80, rather than carrying on until some significant figure like 100, mostly for personal reasons, but also because I started to imagine myself carrying on forever, which was slightly scary.
